Community Policy

Michaelston-y-Fedw Internet CIC is committed to benefiting the local community. The company is set up as a Community Interest Company (CIC) and as such any profits made by the company can only be used to benefit the community.

We will, where possible, use local contractors to carry out as much of the work as practical building our infrastructure.  We are investing a significant amount of money building the network and feel it is important that as much of our investors’ money as possible is spent locally thereby benefiting the local community as a whole.

Michaelston-y-Fedw Internet CIC are offering a free internet connection to our village hall and to St Michael’s Church, not just for the first 12 months but for the foreseeable future. This is in recognition of the important role they play within our community.

The company has a responsibility to those that will invest in the company. We need to make sure that the company is in a position to repay investors in a timely manner.

Once all shareholders have been repaid in full the company will be in a position to look at further measures that could be taken to benefit the community. This could be individual members of the community who are disadvantaged for any reason, or the community as a whole.
